Burmese Cats:

The Burmese breed originates in Southeast Asia but was developed in the U.S. Originally, all Burmese cats were sable colored but now there is a variety of colors within the breed. Some people recognize the European or British Burmese as a separate breed.

The British Burmese cats have long bodies and legs, wedge-shaped heads, and overall seem more slender. The American Burmese cats are stockier with broader heads and round eyes. Both variants are muscular an can weigh up to 12 or 13 lbs. Their coats are short, fine and glossy and their color must be solid with shading and occasional color point markings. They come in a variety of colors like brown, chocolate, blue, lilac, red, cream, champagne, blue, platinum and rarely tortoiseshell.

Burmese cats are playful and tend to have dog-like behaviors. They are very vocal and do not like to be left alone.
