Turkish Van Cats:

The Turkish Van cats are a rare and ancient breed characterized by having a “van” pattern which consists of colored markings only on their head and tail. The rest of their coat is white. Their eyes can be blue or amber and sometimes odd-eyed. Their marking colors are mainly red tabby, tortie, cream or black, but other varieties exist as well.

Turkish Van cats are semi-long haired and do not have an undercoat which makes their fur feel like cashmere and it’s also water resistant. They are a large breed with a long body with slightly longer hind legs. They can weigh up to 17 lbs and are very muscular. They like to jump to very high places and will easily reach 2 meters in one leap. They mature slowly, reaching adulthood at 3 years of age.

These cats are friendly, playful, active, excellent hunters and good swimmers as well.
