American Shorthair Cats:
The American Shorthair is a pedigreed breed of domestic cat with strict conformation standards. It is believed that these cats are descendant from the cats brought to North America with the early settlers from Europe. American Shorthair cats have large and powerful bodies and are considered true working cats. However, they are not known for being overly athletic. Their temperament is that of friendly, affectionate and easy-going and they will continue to follow their natural hunting instinct by catching insects or pests that come into the house. There are over eighty color varieties that are accepted by the standard. As of 2012, the American Shorthair was the seventh most popular cat breed in the United States.
